Chrysler Repair: 94 chrsler LHS power to dash panel, side kick panel, fuse panels

Question
Hi Roland, I have a 94 LHS with 99000 miles 3.5 liter auto the speedometer, fuel gage ,trans. indicator and odometer don't work and the air bag light remains on I can't find a blown fuse at driver side fuse panels and owners manual is no help can you tell where to go from here. thanks

Answer
Hi Pat,
I don't have the wiring diagrams for the LHS, nor have I looked into one of these vehicles in person. But based upon the other FWD vehicles of this time frame I believe you should also have a power distribution center (a box) in the engine compartment, usually on the driver's side, that contains a number of mini-fuses and relays, one of which may then power a fuse in the driver side fuse panel that provides power to the instrument panel. So look for that box and see if any of the fuses there are blown.
The other possibility is a short or open in one or several pins in the two plugs that are located in the top of the body computer. That computer is likely to be located above the passenger side kick panel just to the right of the passenger's shin (it is also the source for the audible warning bells, etc., so listen and follow your ears to also find this modulte.) It has a couple of 25-pin plugs, and if water drips down on the plugs it can short out some of the electrical connections. So if you can't find a bad fuse, try the body computer. Just remove the plugs and check for water, corrosion, or crud around the pins or the sockets into which the pins fit.
Sorry I can't be more specific for lack of wiring diagrams for the LHS, but Chrysler engineering is quite similar across the various models and I have diagrams for the other FWD models.
