Question
I need to know why my transmission will go into drive then it wont move period. I was told that me transmission sensors are no good and then another guy told my that my tranmission is just about gone. I need to know which one is closer to problem

Answer
Hi Anthony,
You didn't day what engine/transmission model or year that you have, but the way to approach this is to first check that there is transmission fluid showing on the dipstick. If not then fill to the add line using Chrysler fluid only. Then see if it will move. If not and if it is making no strange noise, then the pan(s) should be dropped and checked for the absence or presence of debris in the pan(s). If there is not much debris, then the valve body should be cleaned, then check the internal operating pressures and roadtest. If there is debris in the pans it is indicative of sufficient damage to warrant a rebuild.
If you have the A604 (4 speed) with electronic controller then the controller could be readout for fault codes which is another way of determining what is wrong, probably at a cost of $75-100. Or the operating internal pressures can be measured for diagnostic purposes. I would do one of those three approached before signing for a rebuild, because that is a very expensive route and you don't want to do it if you might be able to keep it rolling long enough for you to get your investment out of the vehicle.
