Chrysler Repair: 92 Acclaim AC Problem, clutch assembly, plymouth acclaim

Question
I have a 1992 Plymouth Acclaim with a 3.0L V6 a 3 speed transmission. I have an ac unit that has coolant in it but still blows hot air. The compressor sounds like it is running and the clutch assembly appears to be turning. What can be causing the problem? I'm leaning towards the H-Valve but I'm not certain.

Answer
Hi John,
Have you looked in the sight glass to see if there are bubbles in the refrigerant? There shouldn't be. I would want to verify that there is sufficient refrigerant before consluding it was a hardware problem. It seems to me you can just have insufficient fluid due to chronic small losses that is not severe enough to activate the valve that shuts the compressor down. That is about all I know; I have not gotten into serviceing my own AC.
