Chrysler Repair: Emissions, cataletic converter, chrysler sebring

Question
T.M.  I changed my MAP, IAT and TPS Sensor and replaced the EGR Valve/Solenoid on my 1997 Chrysler Sebring. I also checked the harness on each of my relays and they all look good.  I replaced the cataletic converter using one in a junk yard from a Dodge Van (110,000 miles). The converter was almost identical in size.  Could a different converter be effecting  emissions?
Symtoms:
After driving a few minutes (operating temp reached) it begins caughing until it dies.  Then it starts after a few minutes.  It runs better in cooler weather.  I removed the air duct from the throttle body and it seems to help a little by supplying more air.  When these symptoms occur, my computer and DTC passes all codes, except DTC Code 12 which is battery disconnect. I guess the effected emissions is telling the PCM to disconnect power through a relay. I guess my question would be, should I spend $159.00 on a new converter and have it shipped to me in Germany,or trouble shoot another area?  I'd be so thankful if you steer me in the direction to resolving this.  P.S.  What would cause moister to collect inside the EGR valve?  That was happening with the old EGR and it may be happening with this one.

Answer
test drive the car with the temp.sensor un-pluged,that is the only sensor that changes with"temp.change of engine.
the egr valve only comes into play when the gas pedal is at about 1/4 down, not befor, not after.but,to be shure, drive with it un-pluged to.I dont like these cars !!!
If you can find the distributor cap, check it. pull a plug
and tell me if it looks like it runs rich or lean..,>>
thats a start, leave the converter and the relays alone..
