Chrysler Repair: fuel tank removal, chrysler new yorker, filler tube

Question
Hi Pete,

I am replacing the fuel pump in my 1989 Chrysler New Yorker 3.0L.  We've got the battery disconnected, the fuel lines and electrical connectors loose, and the filler tube loose.

When we go to drop the tank two things get in the way.  1) The filler tube - coming from the rear of the gas tank hangs on the rear axle.  2) There are flanges on the front of the gas tank (in the direction of the drivers seat) that hang on the exhaust pipe.

Do you have any suggestions for dropping this tank?

Thanks,

Joan Taylor
