Chrysler Repair: Air Conditioning, automatic climate control, coolant level

Question
I have a 96 Concorde with a 3.5 liter engine and automatic climate control. For a little while now, I can hear the refrigerant in the evaporator. It sounds like a valve releasing or shutting off presurized gas. Is this just a low coolant level, or does it indicate evaporator problems? It seems to cool fine and opperate normally, it's just making noise. The only repair ever made to the AC as far as I know, was to replace the pressure sensor about a year ago. Thank you very much for your time.

Answer
David,
I would'nt be too concerned about the noise if it is what I am thinking, sounds almost like a leak if you listen close by evaporator?  May be a little low on freon, R-134A I would think. You could charge yourself or have done by a shop.  But in most of the cases that I've seen this makes no difference.  I think that maybe the orifice deforms slightly and this is what makes the noise. When freon passes
through I think it causes (whistling effect) Nothing to worry about.  Winters here almost, depending on where you live.  I would have it charged and a system check @  beginning of next summer, justbecause it is a 6-7 year old car.  Other than that I wouldn't be concerned with if it were mine.  Any other probs or?'s get back to me.
