Classic/Antique Car Repair: 48 desoto coupe deluxe, MOPAR tappered spline axile removal

rear end has a clunk, looking thru inspection hole I can see a spider gear with a tooth broken. My question is how to pull axle and where I  might be able to find an axle puller.

Hi Larry,

Contact your local MOPAR club and talk to a member familiar with these axles. Built from the 30's until 1963, there were millions of MOPAR cars and trucks equipped. However, the challenge with removal is not so much the puller, but the tendency of the drum to "weld" itself with rust to the tapered spline. Speaking with someone knowledgeable of the procedure will put you way ahead!!
