Classic/Antique Car Repair: Vehicle Identification, 1950 Ford VIN numbers

Question
I've found a, supposedly, 1950 Ford two door coupe.  Don't know the exact model, but do have some serial numbers.  Hoping you can decipher the code and tell me what it is I'm looking at.  These numbers were located on a small metal plate on the firewall under the hood (B0DL120816). There is a small star at the beginning of and at the end of the numbers.  Second set of numbers (DLC72341200103D)located stamped on the firewall under the hood.  Any ideas?

Respectfully

Mark

Answer
Mark,

The small metal plate is called your VIN plate. The tag breaks out like this: B= 239 V8, 2BBL,
0=1950 model year, DL= Dallas assembly plant, 120816=VIN number. I'm not so sure about the second number sequence but believe it contains additional manufacturing plant information.

Hope this helps,

Bob
