Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1929 model a lights, good luck jack, low beams

Question
I have a 29 A and can not get the bright lights to work. All the rest of the lights are working parking, dim, and tail. I took the switch apart and jumped them on the plate and they work that way any suggestions

Answer
If the switch looks good and the wires are in place, it sounds like the rotating switch plate. Clean the contacts and check to see that nothing is bent.  I think you have ruled out anything wrong with the wiring to the lamps, and the sockets.  Make sure that when you jump it that the bright lights are working and not just the low beams. It could be fooling you. Jump the low beam while someone is watching closely, then jump the high. Make sure you are getting both and not just the same beam twice. If you confirm that, it has to be in the switch contacts. Maybe too much grease on a contact. Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck. Jack
