Classic/Antique Car Repair: Identify old axle, chevy van, wheel cylinder
Mostly brake
Hi.  Attached are the photos you requested.  I need help in identifying which old car does this axle come from.

It is a small axle.

1.  The rear brake adjuster is crooked like a v-shape.
2.  The differential when open has gears that look like coconut
3.  The wheel cylinder actually has two bolts with the ends sticking out from the cylinder--they come with and are attached to the cylinder.
4.  The yoke base attached to the diff is a bout 3" wide.

Answer
Just from the photo's it looks like early 60's Chev Nova or early Chevy van. Are there any casting numbers on the housing? If there are any numbers, marks or symbols snap a picture and send them along.

I was thumbing through some manuals the other night and came accross a drawing of an axle like yours including the round pinion flange. It was from an early, post war, Studebaker.
