Classic/Antique Car Repair: cut out regulator, good luck jack, alternator

Question
is the regulator adjustable ? if so how ? am overcharging

Answer
The cut out is not a regulator, just a cut out. To regulate the charging rate, you have to take the small cover off the generator and move the third brush up or down. Look in the book if you have it and it will tell you which way to move it. The book is les Andrews model a mechanics handbook. Very good available at MARC, or any model a parts supplier. I suggest you get a 6 volt alternator and use that. We all run them and there is a built in regulator and you can get rid of the cut out that causes trouble.  Bolts right in place. Good luck. Jack
