Hey Brad..1967 ford galaxie 500..with 390 engine..my grandsons car...the car did run fine but was not charging..new alt..still not charging..he put a new voltage regulator on and started the engine without pluging in the new reg..now it wont start...I'm  lost...what can we check...Thanks for your time..Danny in Sacramento

A question for you. Does the engine crank over but not fire or is it completely dead. Let me know and we will go from there. First make sure that the battery is not dead and that the battery cables are clean and making a good connection. The engine should run even if the regulator is unplugged. If the battery is charged then it is time to get out the voltmeter and start checking the electrical circuits making sure there is voltage getting to all the components.
