Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1953 ford crestline, steering wheel puller, horn button

Question
Hello Brad, I would be grateful if you could guide me through removing the original steering wheel off a 1953 ford crestline sunliner, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Answer
Removing the steering wheel on this car is real simple. First push down on the center of the horn buton and turn it about 1/4turn counter clockwise. That should release it from the steering wheel. The horn wire comes up through hollow center of the center of the steering shaft. If the wire is conneted to the horn button or ring, tie a long string to it before diconnecting it. This will prevent it from dissappearing down the center of the steering shaft. Remove the larger nut holding the steering wheel to the shaft. To remove the wheel from here on is the tricky part. The best way is to use a steering wheel puller that can either be borrowed or purchasd from a local parts store.
