Classic/Antique Car Repair: Restore, ford f100, disc brakes

Question
I'm planning on restoring a 1950 Ford F100 and I am wondering what part I would want to replace or upgrade?

Answer
Hello Jeff,

Common upgrades are a more modern front end with disc brakes for much improved handling at higher speed.

Another is to go from the flathead to a modern Ford OHV V-8 like a 302 or 351--these are available in multiple configurations just about anywhere---reason: more power for modern traffic and reliability.

Finally, consider a more modern transmission to use that extra power efficiently. Tremec makes a number of excellent 5 speeds which would you get you more gear flexibility and overdrive capability as well.

Good luck!

Bob
