Classic/Antique Car Repair: 30 Ford Radiator placement, good luck jack, 700r transmission

Question
I have a 30 Ford Coupe Deluxe, The guy I got it from was trying to build a hotrod, got frustrated and quit!
There is a Mustang 2 frontend under the frame with the steering gear box mounted leftside, on top of the cross member.
What I'm trying to find out is where do I put the radiator, forward of the cross member or on top?
I have never built a hotrod like this, but I think the best place to start is the radiator and work backwards!
It already has a 9" ford rearend mounted under the frame!
I have a new 350 crate motor, and reman. 700R transmission to put in it. just trying to get started!

Thanks

Rob

Answer
I don't know anything about building a hot rod.  What a waste of a good Model A.  I don't know what hood you plan to use, if any.  The rad. has to be sized so you won't overheat like most hot rods.  Can't help you there.  A model A rad will not be big enough for a big engine.  The Model A had the rad mounted directly on top of the c/mbr.  Loose bottom mount and a firm upper mount.  You don't want to dump any loads into the core itself.  Not built to carry loads.  Sorry I can't help you.  I assume that it is too late to restore it as a Model A.  The problem with what you are doing is, it will be a fun car for you, will cost a lot to finish it, will be very hard to sell when you are finished with it.  You will probably have to give it away.  Hot rods are personal and people want it a certain way and probably not the way you did it.  They are fun though.
Good luck.
