Classic/Antique Car Repair: body tilt, good luck jack, jury rig

Question
My 31 tudor has a slight body tilt. About 2or3 inches on drivers side. You can see it from the back. One time you said you put a block of wood under your A. Where is a good place to set the block at?

Answer
This is hard to recommend, but it is what I did a few years ago and it is still working.  Loosen up the two big u bolts that hold the rear spring to the cross member. Don't loosen it all the way.  I took a piece of red oak and cut a taper on it so I could drive it into the spring.  Have someone pull the body over to the right side and pound the wood shim between the c/member and the spring.  Then tighten up the nuts, and re-tighten after a few miles.  That jury rig worked on my car and maybe you can get it to work on yours.  Beyond that You would have to try to reposition the spring, or turn it around, and that would be a major job.
Good luck.
