Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1963 Rambler classic 660, oil pressure sender, shifting gears

Question
the car chugs a little when taking off and shifting gears. I
also need a little insight on how to go about in stalling a
oil filter on the inline 196 6 cylinder engine 3 on the
column.

Answer
This could be a lot of things from the engine missing slightly to a little clutch chatter. I would start by making sure the engine is sound with a compression test. if all the cylinders have good compression and re even then a look at the spark plugs and ignition. Then if all that is ok then a look at the drive line. As to the oil filter I have checked all my sources and I cannot
find a filter kit for your car. The filter is not what is called a full flow filter and will only filter a small amount of oil. The filters on those engines tapped into the oil galley at the oil pressure sender or another [port on the engine block. The a flex line connected to the filter bought oil to the filter. There was usually a metering fitting to control the flow of oil so that the oil pressure would not drop. Then the outlet of the filter simply dumped oil back into the oil pan. Todays full flow oil filter all he oil that is being sent to lubricate the engine is sent though the filter.
