Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1984 ford, fuel in the oil, piston ring, pcv system

Question
hello sir...recently i saw oil spitting out of the dipstick that smelled like fuel. i replaced the fuel pump and changed the oil, it is still spitting out of the dipstick. what else can i do or try? this is a 302 v8 84 ford 1/2 ton.

Answer
The first thing that i would do on this engine is to take a compression test. A broken piston ring or burned piston could cause pressure to build in the crankcase and cause this. The PCV system could be plugged and might be the culprit but the compression test is my first move.
