Classic/Antique Car Repair: cough or mis when going up a hill or load, Jaguar, Roll-Royce

Question
I have a 68 Buick GS 350 I bought the car and decided to replace these items to know the history of the car.I replaced the carb spark plugs points and condenser rotor and cap plug wires,Prior to replacing the above parts  I put some carb cleaner in the gas tank. That is what really made me change all these parts. So after parts replaced the miss did not go away,so I disconnected the gas tank fuel line and ran a separate (new gas) source and the problem still did not go away.I did a compression test all cylinder at 120-150 .Cylinders 1 and 3 have black on the spark plug porcelain when all other cylinders were still white (because they were so new). The car had 26,754 miles on the odometer when I purchased it. I removed the valve covers and it was spotless no trace of smudge (oil junk) Please help me I can not  enjoy this car in this status

Answer
Hello Sam,

I do appreciate you asking me a question, however that is NOT in my area expertise.

I have volunteered to answer questions that relate to “Automotive Wooden Interior Trim”.

Specifically the “Real” wood trim parts found in Jaguars, Mercedes-Benz, Rolls-Royce, Bentleys, BMWs, Jensen Healeys, Austin Healeys, Triumphs - etc. etc. etc.

Should you or any of your fellow automotive enthusiasts have interior wood trim in their vehicles....and IF that wood is having trouble.....I can help.

Thank you.

OH, and for what it is worth, I would think that you could find or order a Haynes or Chilton repair manual for your car, either from a local parts store or Amazon, or Borders or maybe on eBay etc. etc.  It would be a good idea to have one, if you are going to do mechanical work yourself.

OH, and for what it is worth, I would think that you might want to search for a classic car club in your area, many folks in clubs are very helpful people and may be able to help you find your answer...making a friend or two in that "world" would be very helpful, especially if you are going to do mechanical work yourself.  Who knows, maybe one of those folks has had the same problem.

ALSO, even tho I am NOT an engine EXPERT - I have done my share of "wrenching" and I would guess that you have a problem with the "Valves"- probably leaking valve seals.

(I would appreciate you taking the time to Rate my response....thanks)
