Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1956 t bird heater control valve, hemmings motor news, heater control valve

Question
I own a 1956 Thunderbird and are having problems with the heater control valve.  The company that makes them are having problems also. They say the diaphragm is not strong to hold it from leaking.  Is there another valve I can put on my car or buy a NOS one?  Thanks Linda.

Answer
There were a number of cars that used vacuum control valves for the heater water flow, it would be a 007 James Bond project identifying the one that will work. However to find a new old stock or good quality valve my stock answer for where can I find….” Is to latch on to a copy of Hemmings Motor News, the old car hobbies classified bible. There are many companies that supply parts for old cars and you will find them in Hemmings. www.hemmings.com
