Classic/Antique Car Repair: Rolls Royce Shadow 1 Back Brakes Sticking, brake hoses, chris answer

Question
QUESTION: Hi its me again!!
I acted on your sound advice and ended up having the accumulators re-gased and sealed, lights went off, everything was fine until i started bleeding the back brakes and didnt get a very good pedal, looked in the rat trap and found master cylinder to be leaking, replaced with genuine seals, then everything bled up fine checking the gap between the master cylinder stop was 25thou but still after a mile or two of use the back brakes wont release and stick on
Can you help me out at all as im desperate!!
Many thanks
Chris

ANSWER: Hello Chris. do the brakes release upon opening the bleed screws?

QUESTION: hi, yes if i open just the near side top bleed screw they both release

ANSWER: Chris it is possible the brake hoses could be swollen shut I have seen then in a state that fluid will be forced through by braking system pressure but upon releasing the pedal the brakes stay on due to the fluid being trapped by the the hose itself. I suggest this because of the attention already given to the master cylinder. the hoses should be changed every six years. but you can confirm this after you remove one clean it well and try to blow through it. by the way how long have you owned this car?

QUESTION: Ive only had the car for a year, near side and off side rear hoses were changed before i got the car and they do look new, however the two in the middle have not been changed
Thanks

Answer
Hi Chris. if they look original or if you don't have prior service records then change then. this "may" correct the issue if the blockage is in the hose which is possible. if not then the complete fluid return system needs to be inspected including the recently rebuilt master cylinder. do you have a service manual? if you don't it would be a wise investment. this way you could follow what a service agency or myself is telling you. best regards JM.
