Classic/Antique Car Repair: steering control valve, drag link, hydraulic pressure

i am working on a 56 gmc 100 truck with power steering, there appears to be an excessive amount of movement in the control valve on the drag link. is there any adjustment that can be made or will the unit need to be replaced/rebuilt? movement is in the ball-n-socket connection.

Is the play there when the engine is stopped or running? It is normal to have play when the engine is stopped and then when hydraulic pressure is applied when the engine is running to have very little play. Let me know and we will go from there.
