Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1951 Packard, frozen blocks, volt equipment

Question
I was gifted a '51 packard earlier this year.  It has set in a dark garage for over 15 years.  Needs obvious re-do, including frayed wires, etc. I was advised that the car was driven into the garage and the guy was doing minor engine work on it.  I was able to 'turn the engine over' several times to ensure no frozen blocks, etc.  Immediate question:
it appeared he was changing over to a 12 volt regulator vs the original six.  both are under the hood.  should i continue with the 12 v conversion OR does that cause a multitude of other problems?
thanks.

Answer
What you have asked for is an opinion. Please do not give my answer a bad review for an opinion, but I am not a fan of converting a good six volt system to 12 volts. Whether to continue with the conversion depends on how much he has converted and if all of the original 6 volt equipment is present. The equipment being the generator, regulator, battery, starter, ignition coil and whether he has installed resistors in the dash gage circuit and if he has changed the light bulbs. This is only for a starting point.
