Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1966 mustang distributor cap, distributor cap, timing light

we changed the distributor cap on the mustang but now the car won't turn over. It tries but just won't catch. Is there something we could have done wrong to cause this? thanks

Well, Cindy, if you didn't loosen the distributor and rotate it, then you either put the wires in in the wrong order, or you put them in the right order, but shifted the series over one hole, either CW or CCW.

Double check that the plug wires are in the correct order, and if they are, loosen the distributor and rotate it in either direction about 30 degrees, and see if it starts.If you can get it running, hook up a timing light and re-time it. Tighten it down and you're all set!
