Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1962 Impala, cylinder motor, suction tube

Question
I purchased a 1962 impala with a rebuilt motor. I recently took it on a road trip of 400 miles or so. It ran great I didn't have the smallest problem. After I returned home I changed the oil but could not find an oil filter. I'm not a big car guy but can take care of basic problems and up keep. Is there an oil filter on cars that old? If so where the heck is it.

Answer
If this is a 235 six-cylinder motor, the oil filter was an option, installed by the dealer. The only filtration used on this motor is the intake screen by the oil pump suction tube.

It's important, because of this, to use a detergent-type motor oil, and change the oil every 3K or so to keep things clean.
