Classic/Antique Car Repair: window regulator spring, vice grip pliers, window regulator

30 Tudor Model A. Have weak regulator springs. I bought replacements, new springs seem very stiff, any trick to compressing them so they can be hooked under the keeper? tried "c" clamp, but that didn't work.

The only thing I can suggest is to tie a wire on the end of the spring so you can pull it into place, and then take the wire off.  Don't get hurt.  Springs can do a lot of damage if you are not really careful.  Pull the wire with a pair of vice grip pliers.
