Classic/Antique Car Repair: transmission fluid, chrysler windsor, chrysler car

Question
hi have a 63 chrysler windsor conv.i am changing the speedo cable so i might as well change the fluid, can i just drain through the drain plug, or should i take out dip stick and then the holder thing to drain, if i drain through the drain plug will it empty completley, about how much fluid is in there its a 361 727 trans thks as always garnet

Answer
I don't have the capacities, but just fill it while it is running and keep checking it.  Or ask a dealer, or a Chrysler car club member you can find on the net.
It won't drain all the way, but that is OK.  The Torque converter will hold some fluid that will not drain.  Be sure to use the correct fluid.  GM and Chrysler used different fluid.  If the fluid has been changed, or the trans serviced in the past year or so, leave it alone.  I assume it is an automatic.
Hope this helps.
