Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1930 murray 4 door, alignment work, snyders

Question
Complete restoration . ALL new wood. Aligning the body. starting at the front firewall to get hood alignment & work backwards. Right so far ? My question is the body sits on wood the length of the body. I need to tilt the firewall back ( or raise ) front to get the hood to fit. should the whole board & body be lifted( shimmed ) op off the frame or shim between the body & board ( keeping the board againt the frame ? The front of firewall needs to be raise at least 1" to close the gap at the bottom of the hood ( no gap at hood top & large gap at bottom ) Murrays are alot different than other model A's my dad has done. Thanks

Answer
I think you should put the shim between the body and the board.  I checked in the model A handbook and they don't say which way to go.  Sorry I can't be of much help.  If you don't already have it, get Les Andrew's book, the Model A mechanics handbook.  Marc or Snyders has it for about $35.  Great book that we all have and use.
