Classic/Antique Car Repair: my 1972 bug cuts out, unpleasant weather, sears

Hi I have a 1972 1600 beetle which seems to cut out everytime we have unpleasant weather until the car warms, up recently had new regulator box, oil change the idle turned up thank you for your time craig.

I would make sure that the spark plugs are properly gapped. A large gap will cause the required voltage to fire them to go up and then find a short to ground across the coil tower or distrubutor cap. Then check those items for signs of carbon tracks or voltage seeking a short path to ground. Check the inside of the cap and the rotor.
