Classic/Antique Car Repair: starting problem, steering colum, starter solenoid

Question
hello I have a 1977 corvette when I turn the key to start nothing but the volt meter on the dash reads 12to 13 after a few trys it cranks and starts nice the batt is new 1000 cranking amps yellow top spirl starter was two years old I changed the starter and the same thing I was maybe thinking it could be the ignition switch in the steering colum thanks ?

Answer
Yes, the ignition switch may need to be adjusted, or may be worn out.  Also, the starter solenoid could be intermittent, but since repeated turning of the key makes it start, that pretty well points to the ignition switch as the cause.

I'm sorry to be so slow in responding - your question did not come through to me until just now, due to a problem with the web site.
