Classic/Antique Car Repair: 67 camaro rs ss, 67 camaro rs, chevy club

Question
Hi, my car will start after a few days of rest. BUT if I am out driving around for about 1 hour and then turn her off, she WILL NOT restart. no click no nothing just silence as I turn the key. Could it be a faulty ignition switch? I originally thought that iut might have something to do with the ground wire  from the battery BUT the lights do come on so there is power but no ignition... what could it be?? kim xx

Answer
I am a Model A guy, but I will tell you what I think.  If you don't hear a click, then you are not getting power to the solenoid.  even a low battery will give you a click.  See if the lights dim as you turn the key.  If they do, then you are drawing a little current to the ign switch.  If they don't, then something is preventing power from getting to the solenoid.  Try by passing the solenoid.  It could be a bad solenoid.  check the voltage at the solenoid as you turn the key.
My best advice is to join a chevy club and get help from them.  They would be happy to help you.
