Classic/Antique Car Repair: gas fumes, plymouth duster, charcoal canister

Question
1973 plymouth duster; 318 c.i./5.2L engine; doesn't leak anywhere, but fills garage with gas /carbon fumes. it only has 28,000 original miles and everything appears to be in good working order.
This car has what I believe to be a charcoal canister under the hood that connects to the carb.

Answer
The way I find these, and I suggest you think this out before trying it, is to blow a LITTLE air pressure into the gas tank and usually the venting leak will become obvious. It is good to have 2-3 poeple looking while you apply the pressure (1-2 # max).

It will probably be either the return hose or the top seal on the gas tank itself. Filled hoose, large and vent, are also likely candidates.
