Classic/Antique Car Repair: powerglide trans., problem thanks, gaer

Question
Hi I have a 68 impala with a 350 & powerglide
I removed the motor & trans while restoring the car
I have just put the motor & trans back in
the trans is staying in low gaer , it wont shift up
I have checked the vacuum , the modulator & the valves in threar of the trans ,all are very clean & seem to be working ok Do you have any ideas as to my problem

Barring the possibility your low band has seized up (you don't mention how long it set up) it could be the passing gear kickdown is not correctly adjusted or hooked up. Make sure that it moves freely and does not "droop" under its own weight. It is spring supported.
