Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1962 bel Air Hood Springs, refrigerator magnet, kids school

We replaced our hood springs with what they called heavy duty springs to cure the problem of our hood not staying open. Still didn't help. Someone told us the hood has bondo causing extra weight. Any other heavier duty springs you can suggest? Thanks....Steve

Before you go to heavier springs take a refrigerator magnet, you know like the ones that you hold notes and your kids school papers onto the refrigerator door, and run over the hood. If bondo weight is the issue then there will be places that the magnet won't stick. If that is the case be careful about heavier springs as you could buckle the hinges with the added pressure. Let me know and we will go to the next step.
