Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1956 chevy 210 hesitation at highway speeds, highway speeds, fuel pump

Question
I have a 1956 Chevrolet 210 with 6 cylinder and powerglide transmission. Runs great until 50 then seems to hesitate or miss a few beats. Original 50000 mile gar.

Answer
Hi Again Pat:
This could be a number of things, but since you say the problem only occurs at speed 50 mph or higher, My first guess would be a faulty fuel pump.

This could also mean a foul plug or clog fuel filter. You may have to drive her a few times under different conditions to help me nail down the actual problem. If this is a fuel pump problem, it won't improve. But if it is a foul plug, it may improve a bit with more frequent driving. Driver her some more and get back to me.
