Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1977 corvette diferrential, lower tank, brother inlaw

Question
My brother inlaw and i are working to get this car back on the road and noticed humming coming from rear end when moving at any speed. like bad bearings he wants to replace/ or rebuild rear. we also found antifreeze mixed in with transmission fluid after changeing fluid in tranny. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
If you have bad bearings or gears replacement and repair is a good idea. The anti freeze in the coolant could be a problem with the cars radiator. The lower tank on the radiator contains the transmission cooler and that could be leaking. You will need to either replace the radiator or take it to your local radiator guy. Then you will have to flush all of that nasty stuff out of the transmission and hope that there is no damage.
