does anyone have a shifter box diagram or photo?

i can put mine in 1 st won't come out unless i go under hood. wanted to see if shifter box maybe something wrong in it.spring? don't know much about the shifter as you can figure....any diagrams/photos of gear box......and parts needed? 2nd to 3rd working fine

This is a common problem with Chevy three on the tree shifters. The shift forks and the housing were made out of pot metal, an aluminum alloy, that was soft and wore quickly. I think that you will find that most of the parts suppliers that advertiser in Hemmings Motor News carry the rebuild kits. It is not a hard job.
