Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1981 corvette choke light, oil pressure switch, rochester carburetors

Question
the choke light on the dash stays on. fast idle wont kick off and the choke only opens up about 1/4 inch after 2-3 min i have a replacement  ac oil filter on it i believe its a new number 454

Answer
The choke on these Rochester carburetors used an electric heater coil in the choke housing to supply the heat to warm the thermostatic coil to open the choke. The electric coil gets the current from the oil pressure switch. Most of the problems that I have found over the years is either the coil burned out or a defective ground between the choke heater and the basic engine block. The choke cover must have a good ground in order to operate.

PS. As far as the oil filter goes I do not keep a cross reference library for accessory parts like oil filters.
