Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1963 ford galaxie, 1963 ford galaxie, gas tank

Question
QUESTION: ran good, then i ran out of gas. the fuel pump is new, but i don't seem to be getting any gas. are the lines clogged? what should i do?

ANSWER: Hi Chuck:
You may have trash in the line or a clogged fuel filter. Check the fuel filter. Also since you ran out of gas, there may be trash in the bottom of the gas tank that created the problem. You may want to dump and clean the gas tank, change fuel filter and blow out the fuel line. This should fix your problem.

QUESTION: thank you for your help. i have one more question. how do i go about dumping the tank? and the line?

Answer
Hi Chuck:
You should have a Drain Plug on the bottom of the gas tank. You can remove this plug to drain out any excess gas, then you should leave the plug out while flushing the tank out additional fuel. make sure you disconnect the fuel line before you start this process, as dirt and debris will most likely be in the line as well. Also, take the filter off the line and inspect it to make sure they are clean.
