Classic/Antique Car Repair: 69 ford torino heater core, 69 ford torino, torino gt

Question
I have a 69 torino GT with ac.  I need to replace the heater core.  Do I have to
remove the entire dash and instrument panel to get the heater core housing
out?

Answer
It's bad, but it's not THAT bad!  You will have to take the heater assembly apart to get at the core, but you can do it without removing the dash.  You may have to remove the glove box to gain access to all the screws.  If you don't have the shop manual for the car, now is a good time to get one!   The auto literature dealers have them - I use Ed Faxon at www.faxonautolit.com, but there are many others.

The manual will pay for it self many times over - and it will give you step by step directions for how to do this (and anything else you ever need to do for this car).

Summer is coming - you've got a few months to solve the problem - in the meantime, you can just disconnect the hoses!
