Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1995 Ford Bronco 4x4, ford bronco, dallas texas

Question
I had the oil changed in my 95 bronco I didn't notice they used 5W20 until I got home. I live in Dallas, Texas the temperature never falls below freezing. Why did they use 5W20 and will it damage my engine?

Answer
All things considered, it is not fatal. If your engine is in perfect condition, you probably won't know any difference. BUT, if it is older and tends to make a little noise or smoke when first cranked, you will notice that the oil is too thin and will not last long. you may also see a drop in pressure setting in traffic.

The oil will still flow and lube parts, but does not aid in older issues like a 40W would.
