Classic/Antique Car Repair: 67 Ford Mustang, ford mustang coupe, 67 ford

Question
My husband has restored a 67 Ford Mustang Coupe and I was wondering if you could tell me what it would be worth if we decided to sell it?  It is a 4 speed, coupe, new paint job and interior redone.  Thank you for any help you could give me. Sharlet

Answer
I can't answer a question about value without examining the car.  The quality of the restoration, which engine it has, and the total mileage on the car all affect the value, and the current market conditions also dictate what the car might bring on the market.

If you go to your local book store and buy a copy of the Krause "Old Cars Weekly Price Guide", and read up on how to rate the condition code for your car, then make an honest assessment of the quality of restoration including the authenticity of each item, you will be able to come up with a ballpark estimate. The final arbiter, however, is what a willing buyer pays a willing seller, and the only way to know that is to offer it.

You can also check on eBay for what similar cars are actually selling for, if you select "completed items", and note those auctions that have resulted in sales.  "Asking" or "Buy it now" prices mean nothing- you have to look at cars that actually sold.   For a decent looking amateur restoration, I would guess you will find them selling for between $7000 and $10,000, assuming it is totally authentic (meaning factory equipment and no modifications like different wheels, aftermarket stereo etc.)
