Classic/Antique Car Repair: 65 Mustang, ford mustang owners, automatic transmission fluid

Question
My 1965 Ford Mustang owners manual says to use type "F" transmission fluid in the power steering pump. On the dipstick of the pump(Eaton style) it says to use type "A" automatic transmission fluid . Who do I believe?

All of my old iron, including one Ford in this vintage, is running modern off the shelf good name brand power steering fluid. Some time ago we were told by the oil companies that Dexron was taking over for all the older transmission fluids. But the PS on old my old stuff is filled with power Steering Fluid.
