Classic/Antique Car Repair: fuel pump driver, pontiac catalina, napa store

Question
hello: I have a 77' pontiac catalina with a big block 400 I'm trying to locate the part that connects to the camshaft that drives the fuel pump . what's it called and where can I find it ?

Answer
First, I have to apologize and explain why it took me so long to answer - I JUST got this!!.  The system has some problem and is not sending questions to me when they receive them.

Anyway, what you need is a fuel pump actuator rod, also called a push rod, and I don't think you are going to find one in a parts store, but you could try a GMC/Pontiac dealer, as your car's engine was used for many years and that rod is the same for other engines too.  At the least, they should be able to tell you what the part number is for it. If the dealer can't help you, try your NAPA store, using that part number, and if they can't get you one, you'll have to get one from a wrecking yard.

I guess you must have lost the original one?  They usually don't come out, and they don't wear out either - it is very unusual to need one.

Again, I'm sorry this is so late!
