Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1968 FORD MUSTANG DOOR ADJUSTMENT, door hinge, ford mustang

Question
I have a 68 mustang and the passenger door hits the front fender about 2/3 of the way down on the door. How do I adjust the door. If I have to remove the front fender I need to now where all the bolts are. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Terry:
If the door is hitting the fender, I am curious as to what may have caused this. Usually in an accident, the front fender may get pushed back into the door. If there is no known damage to the fender, but the door is just slightly rubbing the fender when opened, I recent straighten out such a problem with a crow bar, but nugging the fender back in place. However, this will only work with a small misalignment.

The first thing to determine, is the problem the door or the fender? Which is out of adjustment. If there have not been any damage to the fender, I would suspect the door hinge maybe off, loose or off track.

Please explain more details about what caused the problem. I wouldn't take the fender off unless it was absolutely necessary. Thanks.
