Classic/Antique Car Repair: engine problems, air fuel mixture, machanic

Question
I have a 66 v8 stang, holley 650, msd distributer. I am a shad tree machanic but I am sooooo stumped right now. My car will start and run great till it warms up then it dies. When it dies it sounds like the choke turns back on but it doesn,t. I checked to see if there is fuel getting into the carb by opening the throttel body and I am getting gas. Its almost like starving for something, I checked for spark and I seem to be getting spark from the coil to ground. I there anything I am missing??

Please help,, I don't have much hair left.

Thank you for your time

Regards,
Scott

Answer
Hi Scott:
Although this could be a lot of things, you have to start investigating somewhere, and the most likely cause could be a Idle adjustment. If it idles down after warm up, then check for a stuck float in the carb. 2nd, check the air/fuel mixture. If is running rich (gas smell?), and finally fuel filter or pump that is restricting fuel flow after warm up. Maybe trash in the fuel filter?
