Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible Mechanical Question, distributor shaft, ford mustang

Question
Hello. I inherited a 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible. My uncle disabled it so no one would be able to drive it. My uncle said that he removed the "rotor" from under the hood so that the car would not start. Do you know where I would go/find instructions on how to replace this "rotor"? I thought rotors were only in brakes. I would like to do this myself as this car has tremendous sentimental value to me and I am going to try to do everything myself. Thanks!

Answer
In cars with distributors there is a rotor under the distributor cap. This device sits on top of the distributor shaft that carries the high voltage from the coil terminal in the center of the distributor cap to the proper terminal to fire the spark plugs. It was a common trick in "the day" for us old bucks to remove the rotor to make the car a non starter.
