Classic/Antique Car Repair: water pump on 1962 Mercury Montery 352cid, professional mechanic, pack job

Question
how long should it take to replace the water pump on this car? It has an aftermarket A/C , but other than that everything is fairly visible. I have the antifreeze and hoses as well as belts and thermostat. I want to change it all.  Thanks Steve

Answer
The flat rate manual says the professional mechanic should be able to do this job in 1 hour if the car does not have AC, and 1:20 if it has factory AC.  Since your AC is aftermarket, it could be different, but probably is somewhere around the same time.

If you are handy with tools and have some experience with this repair, you should expect to spend about twice that time to do it.  If you've never done one, expect to take all afternoon - it's a 6 pack job!
