Classic/Antique Car Repair: 36 Plymouth P2 - Turn Signals, volt bulbs, j c whitney

Question
Dick,

I want to add turn signals to my '36 Plymouth P2. I have the turn signal / HAZARD switch, but I'd like to buy auxilary lights for the front and rear signals that I can mount on the bumper brackets. I've tried every kind of Internet search I can think of, but cannot find these lights. I have seen pix of '36 - '38 Plymouths on the Web with just these lights. Can you point me in the right direction ?

Thanks.

Answer
J. C. Whitney still sells the switches. See Item number GM138972 for a 6 volt switch.  This is only the switch- you will have to add small light fixtures that you can mount to your bumper braces, and wire them up, but directions will be included with the switch.   Motorcycle shops have small amber and red lights that you can use, just replace the 12 volt bulbs with 6 volt bulbs of the same or smaller wattage.  Use heavy wire - at least 14 gauge to hook up the lights - these draw quite a bit of current on 6 volts.
