Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1964 Thunderbird, parallel resistor, alternator output

Question
Can you E-mail me a schematic for the alternator and regulator on a 64 Thunderbird?

Answer
I have no way to send an e-mail to you, but I can list the wiring connections for you.  A "schematic" would cover the internal connections within each unit - I do not have that information - only a repair manual for those devices would have that detailed information.

I am assuming what you want is wiring diagrams - those are in the shop manual, but I can list them for you from my books:

From the alternator, there are 4 connections:
1.  The large wire terminal is the alternator output - that goes to 3 places:  The + terminal on the battery, the ignition switch "B" terminal, and the "B" terminal on the regulator.
2.   The Field terminal goes to the "F" terminal on the regulator
3.  The Neutral terminal goes to the "S" terminal on the regulator
4.  The last connection is the ground - this is not a wire, but is provided by the mounting hardware.

The regulator has 5 connections:
1. The "I" terminal goes to the idiot light and a parallel resistor, and through them to the "ACC" terminal on the Ignition switch.
2. The B terminal was mentioned above
3. The S terminal was mentioned above
4. The F terminal was mentioned above
5.  The last connection is the ground. This is not a wire but is provided by the mounting hardware.

I hope this is helpful.
